Instrumental hip-hop just got a lot more melodic. In the vein of Nobody and DJ Shadow, Egadz creates delicately layered compositions with plenty of drums. | Amir's 'My Life Is Done' could be the huge crossover hit for 2003. Who Knows. It helps that Dj Quik's latest freshness is backing him. Erick Sermon's on there too.
With guest spots from 2Mex, AwolOne and TommyV
the expectations were high with this release. No
dissappointments here. Check the Q+A Session with thescapeartists |
these broken beats and bass stabs
thrive on the bare essentials
..... You won't believe how good simplicity can be. RMJC are currently working on soul talent Natalie Gardiners debut EP |
running a record company like a lemonade stand,
the Mole has been helping bedroom mcs release
their work to the W.hole W.ide W.orld. And Cheap. Cd's run $6 each, 10/$50 The highlight of the comp is definitely the production work of the Mole. His inventiveness and curiousity shines through as he explores the range within HipHop |
starting off as pretty standard ode to the NinjaTune beat hybrid sound, nothing jumped out as being very original. But as I listen to this album again I start to question my own doubts about this album. "Lucky 14" is just woderful...oh shit,so is the next one!. OK, I take back everything I said. As soon as the sounds became less familiar, I really started to enjoy. But a couple of the first tracks shoulda been left off. |

a 7-member Brooklyn crew knee deep in talent expells knowledge quite easily no frills hip-hop for you DON'T SLEEP |
borrowing from a wide range of influences Losaka brings a diverse yet developed album to the table the lively beats are nicely juxtaposed against the highly introverted lyrics Another quality H2A release. |
most amateur mc's just aren't believable Not Raj with a presence and rhythm sometimes sounding like the voices within Dose's head but not like a carbon copy Don't compare sorry I did |

interesting beats stray from the standard patterns thoughtful lyrics upcoming LP "the 26th...causes and effects" |
almost sample-free production consistency the same grows a little monotonous the potential is there especially with the lyrics |
continuing in the lines of the WestCoast Legends before them Gershwin BLX brings a solid project that may not be recommended if you're claustrophobic In true battle royale style these mc's surround and suffocate
